The teaching of Arabic to beginner students aims to enable them, by the end of the first two semesters, to acquire linguistic autonomy, allowing them to express themselves both orally and in writing in all everyday situations and to communicate in a simple language understood throughout the Arab world.

The first semester is primarily dedicated to learning the Arabic alphabet system, followed by work on classic themes (introducing oneself, understanding instructions, asking for directions, talking about one's family, etc.) and various daily life situations. From the start, the approach places a strong emphasis on oral communication and dedicates a significant part of the course to Arab-Muslim culture and civilization.
The goal of this approach is twofold: first, to enable students, by the end of the first year, to be able to engage with simple press texts, and second, to reach the A2 language level, as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference.

The intermediate Arabic course focuses on both spoken and written language skills, aiming to strengthen the knowledge of students who already have a basic grasp of the Arabic language. In addition to grammar lessons and vocabulary building, the course includes a cultural component to familiarize students with the rich traditions of the Arab world.

Throughout the course, special attention is given to pronunciation and sentence structure, both in speaking and writing. Audiovisual materials and written texts are used to support students in developing their language abilities.

Assessment will be based on a variety of exercises throughout the semester, covering both oral and written skills. Attendance and active participation are essential for success in the course.

This course is aimed at experienced Arabic speakers (strong level). A course with thematic content will be planned to address topics of society, civilization and culture linked to the Arab world. To do this, we will use various media (films, documentaries, videos, ancient and modern texts, press, caricatures, etc.) which will provide the opportunity to explore the chosen theme in more depth and spark exchanges between students.

Evaluation: positive and active participation in class + attendance

This is a refresher course. It is aimed at confirmed Arabic speakers, with a “C” level according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The objective is to consolidate the students' acquired knowledge, both cultural and linguistic, both written and oral. Particular emphasis is, however, placed on preparation for oral exchange and understanding of various texts and audio documents, in the spirit of teaching a living Arabic language. Classes are held entirely in standard Arabic.
