La realidad artística en la España del siglo XX
El siglo XX en España representa uno de los momentos más convulsos de la historia del país. Desde unos inicios monárquicos, pasando por una dictadura hasta desembocar en la II República (1931-1936) que acabaría con la Guerra Civil (1936-1939). El conflicto bélico traería casi 40 años de dictadura con Franco. Ahora bien, con todo este contexto histórico ¿cómo afectan estos cambios al arte español?
En este curso nos centraremos en el desarrollo paradigmático del arte español a través de los diferentes momentos políticos donde convergen artistas que crean su obra en el país, y los que lo hacen en el exilio. Así, por ejemplo, analizaremos como la arquitectura postmoderna inunda las grandes ciudades con el objetivo de remodelar y ampliar las ciudades como ocurre con Madrid. En este sentido, nos acercaremos a la obra de Ricardo Bofill, Saénz de Oiza, Rafael Moneo y Santiago Calatrava, entre otros.
Por otro lado, desde la escultura con las escuelas madrileña y vasca, estudiaremos las obras más reconocidas de artistas como Gargallo, Ibarrola y Chillida. En el ámbito pictórico, a través de la pintura nos encontramos con una gran representación de artistas y estilos que se dejan influenciar por sus orígenes plasmando así una pintura costumbrista muy significativa. Así, estudiaremos a algunos pintores emblemáticos como Sorolla, Zuloaga, Romero de Torres, Juan Gris o Joan Miró. Y, por último, concluiremos con los dos pintores representantes del cubismo y el surrealismo en España: Pablo Picasso y Salvador Dalí.

Le XXe siècle en Espagne représente l’un des moments les plus troublés de l’histoire du pays. Depuis les débuts monarchiques, en passant par une dictature jusqu’à la fin de la Seconde République (1931-1936) qui devait mettre fin à la guerre civile (1936-1939). Le conflit militaire amènerait près de 40 ans de dictature avec Franco. Or, avec tout ce contexte historique, comment ces changements affectent-ils l’art espagnol ?
Dans ce cours, nous nous concentrerons sur le développement paradigmatique de l’art espagnol à travers les différents moments politiques où convergent des artistes qui créent leur œuvre dans le pays, et ceux qui le font en exil. Ainsi, par exemple, nous analyserons comment l’architecture post-moderne inonde les grandes villes dans le but de remodeler et d’élargir les villes comme c’est le cas à Madrid. Dans ce sens, nous aborderons l’œuvre de Ricardo Bofill, Saénz de Oiza, Rafael Moneo et Santiago Calatrava, entre autres.
D’autre part, depuis la sculpture avec les écoles madrilènes et basques, nous étudierons les œuvres les plus reconnues d’artistes tels que Gargallo, Ibarrola et Chillida. Dans le domaine pictural, à travers la peinture, nous trouvons une grande représentation d’artistes et de styles qui se laissent influencer par leurs origines, traduisant ainsi une peinture de genre très significative. Ainsi, nous étudierons quelques peintres emblématiques comme Sorolla, Zuloaga, Romero de Torres, Juan Gris ou Joan Miró. Et enfin, nous conclurons avec les deux peintres représentant le cubisme et le surréalisme en Espagne : Pablo Picasso et Salvador Dali.
The artistic reality in 20th century Spain
The 20th century in Spain represents one of the most convulsive moments in the history of the country. From a few monarchical beginnings, passing through a dictatorship to end in the II Republic (1931-1936) that would end the Civil War (1936-1939). The war would bring almost 40 years of dictatorship with Franco. Now, with all this historical context, how do these changes affect Spanish art ?
In this course we will focus on the paradigmatic development of Spanish art through the different political moments where artists who create their work in the country converge, and those who do so in exile. Thus, for example, we will analyze how postmodern architecture floods large cities with the aim of remodeling and expanding cities as it happens with Madrid. In this sense, we will approach the work of Ricardo Bofill, Saénz de Oiza, Rafael Moneo and Santiago Calatrava, among others.
On the other hand, from the sculpture with the Madrid and Basque schools, we will study the most recognized works of artists such as Gargallo, Ibarrola and Chillida. In the pictorial sphere, through painting we find a great representation of artists and styles that are influenced by their origins thus shaping a very significant costumbrista painting. Thus, we will study some emblematic painters such as Sorolla, Zuloaga, Romero de Torres, Juan Gris or Joan Miró. And finally, we will conclude with the two painters representing cubism and surrealism in Spain : Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí.
