The traditional techniques of engraving weren't supplanted, despite the increasing interest for technical innovations. It is paradoxical that, despite its importance in the knowledge transfer engraving is still not well known to the general public. Wath is engraving? It is any image printed after being engraved on copper, iron, wood or any other hard material. That is, any image replicated with a mold on which is engraved either intaglio or embossed, is engraving.
The diversity of techniques related to this discipline makes it a resourceful tool and offers several possibilities of expereience and expression. Satisfactory results can be quickly obtained using simple techniques. Ever since Antiquity, wood was used to embossing. Towards the end of the 14th century silversmiths - who to keep track of their work, they used to ink them and print templates - have contributed to the emergence of intaglio; the invention of press enabled it to take off, by acquiring multiple techniques through its history , constantly pushing its bondaries. Historically engraving has passionated the greatest artists; Dürer, Rembrandt and other gave their innermost feelings.
Evaluation modalities:
The realized engraving at the end of each technique will be evaluated, according to their technical quality, personal translation, and sensitivity. At the end of the seminar, the average score will be refined for each student according to their involvement and attendance.
