Le MODAL de Mécanique est un enseignement expérimental par projet qui vise à faire découvrir aux étudiants une branche de la Mécanique (aérodynamique, acoustique, granulaires…), sans prérequis.
Lors des premières séances, les étudiants découvrent et appréhendent les concepts de base d’un domaine de la Mécanique au travers d’expériences concrètes. Lors des six ou sept séances suivantes, les étudiants doivent réaliser un projet ou une étude spécifique sur un problème complexe de leur choix.
Lors de cette phase de projet, ils mettent en œuvre une démarche scientifique : poser un problème, confronter leurs observations à des modèles plus ou moins simples puis à réaliser de nouvelles expériences en fonction etc.

ATTENTION : la liste des thèmes change d’une année sur l’autre avec le nombre d’inscrit et les disponibilités des enseignants. Le choix des thèmes se fait après une présentation, quelques semaines avant le début du MODAL, et nous ne pouvons pas garantir à un élève l’inscription pour un thème précis.

MODAL in Mechanics is an experimental and project-based course designed to introduce students to a branch of Mechanics (aerodynamics, acoustics, granular materials, etc.), without prerequisites.
During the first sessions, students discover and grasp the basic concepts of a field of Mechanics through concrete experiments.In the following six or seven sessions, students are asked to carry out a specific project or study on a complex problem of their choice.
During this project phase, they apply a scientific approach: posing a problem, comparing their observations with more or less simple models, then carry out new experiments based on these models, etc.

CAUTION: the list of themes changes from one year to the next, depending on the number of registrations and the availability of teachers. The choice of themes is made after a presentation a few weeks before the start of MODAL, and we cannot guarantee a student's registration for a specific theme.
Evaluation: Written report and poster presentation.
