Deep Learning and more specifically Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are methods that have recently seen a resurgence in popularity and have largely contributed to the advances in problems as diverse as:
image classification, segmentation and comparison, objects and persons (e.g. faces) detection and recognition, vision tranformers, generative adversarial networks, analysis of style in images, among a multitude of others.
