Les techniques de gravure traditionnelles, malgré l’intérêt croissant pour les innovations technologiques, n’ont pas été supplantées. Il est paradoxal de constater qu’en dépit de son importance dans la transmission du savoir la gravure reste méconnue du grand public.
Mais au fait qu’est-ce qu’une gravure ?
C’est toute image imprimée après avoir été gravée sur cuivre, sur fer, sur bois ou sur n’importe quelle autre matière dure. C’est-à-dire, que toute image reproduite à l’aide d’une matrice sur laquelle elle est gravée soit en creux, soit en relief est une gravure.
La diversité des techniques liées à cette discipline en font un moyen plein de ressources et offrent de nombreuses possibilités d’expérience et d’expression. Des résultats satisfaisants peuvent être obtenus rapidement en utilisant des techniques simples.
Dès l’antiquité on utilisa le bois pour graver en relief. Vers la fin du XIVe siècle les orfèvres, qui pour garder une trace de leur travail, avaient l’habitude de les encrer et d’en imprimer des patrons ont contribué à la naissance de la gravure en creux ; l’invention de la presse lui permit de prendre tout son essor, en se dotant tout au long de son histoire de multiples techniques, reculant toujours ses limites.
De tout temps la gravure a passionné les plus grands artistes ; Dürer, Rembrandt et bien d’autres lui ont confié leurs émotions les plus intimes.
- Évaluation :Les estampes réalisées à l’issue de chaque technique seront évaluées, selon leur qualité technique, leur traduction personnelle, et leur sensibilité. En fin de séminaire, la moyenne des notes sera affinée pour chaque élève en fonction de son implication et de son assiduité.

But what exactly is engraving?

Towards the end of the 14th century, to keep track of their work, goldsmiths were used to ink them and print their patterns which contributed to the birth of intaglio engraving; the invention of the printing press enabled it to take all its rise, endowing it with multiple techniques constantly pushing back its limits throughout history.
Engraving has always captivated the greatest artists: Dürer, Rembrandt and many others confided their most intimate emotions to it.
Evaluation:
The engravings produced at the end of each technique will be evaluated according to their technical quality, personal translation and sensitivity. At the end of the seminar, each student's marks will be refined according to their involvement and attendance.
