Projet 3A facultatif sur les deux périodes

Les projets seuls ou en binôme feront l'objet de discussions élèves-enseignants et seront associés l'un des modules suivis.

Les projets proposés par le Département de Biologie seront accessibles dans le PA BioInformatique.

- BIO511 :
Projet de recherche : La première option consiste en une activité de recherche dans un labora- toire. Dans la plupart des projets de cette option, une partie production de données sera suivie d’une partie d’ana- lyses et de modélisation.

Il s’agit d’une première initiation et prise de contact personnelle avec le monde de la recherche.

- Projet bibliographique : Cette option consiste à élaborer une recherche bibliographique approfondie sur un sujet précis en rapport avec un des cours de troisième année.

L’objectif est d’être capable de présenter cette thématique de façon synthétique, accessible et pédagogique sous forme d’une présentation de type cours asso- cié à un document écrit.

- Elaboration de projet : Cette option consiste à élaborer une demande de financement pour un pro- jet de recherche. L’objectif sera de définir, sur une des thématiques proposées en troisième année, un projet scientifique novateur et ambitieux, de le rédiger et l’exposer à l’oral.

Pour toutes les options, les échanges entre enseignants du département et entre départements sont fortement souhaités. Toutes ces thématiques pourront aussi être développées dans des perspectives d’ingénieries allant de la mise au point de méthodes, d’outils, de logiciels, de bases de données, ou d’organismes génétiquement modifiés.

Le but du projet de 3e année est de démar- rer un projet personnel autour d’une thématique de recherche en biologie en mêlant réflexion, analyse bibliographique et/ou expériences et analyses de données. Le projet sera à réaliser seul ou en binôme (éventuellement plus mais il faudra alors une répartition très explicite des différentes tâches). Il sera à rattacher à un des enseignements de 3e année que vous avez choisis afin que vous puissiez parler régulièrement de vos progrès et interroga- tions avec vos enseignants. Pour que ces projets soient couronnés de succès, il est nécessaire qu’il y ait un réel engagement de votre part, tant dans le temps de travail qui devra y être consacré dès les premières semaines, que dans l’ouverture d’esprit et la maturité dont vous devrez faire preuve, pour récupérer des sources d’informa- tions diverses auprès de vos enseignants mais aussi des enseignants d’autres dépar- tements ou de chercheurs de la région. C’est en faisant vivre votre projet que vous apprendrez le plus.

Une liste de projets et de sujets vous seront présentés lors de l'amphi 0 en septembre.

A l’issue de cette journée, chaque étudiant devra avoir défini un projet, un sujet et/ou choisi un enseignant référent. Les projets et sujets présentés restent ouverts, ils ont pour objectif de vous donner des points de départ et de vous exposer les différents champs d’expertise des enseignants du département de biologie. Libre à vous de faire évoluer ces projets ou de discuter avec les enseignants pour en faire émerger de nouveaux qui vous tiennent à cœur, notre seul objectif étant de nous assurer que ces projets soient cohérents et réalisables pour que vous puissiez vous y épanouir pleine- ment. Vous aurez également la possibilité de choisir une analyse d’article couplée à un module de P1, en particulier BIO571.

Modalités d'évaluation :
•septembre à fin février : déroulement du projet, une demi-journée par semaine en coordination avec votre tuteur.
• mi-décembre  soutenance intermédiaire organisée en fin de première période.
• mi-mars/fin mars: rédaction d'un bref rapport et d’une soutenance orale.
Une présentation orale de 10 mn  (15 mn pour un binôme) sera suivie dune discussion de 15mn avec les coordinateurs et tuteurs du projet. Nous ne demandons pas de rapport écrit mais nous vous incitons à transmettre un rapport à votre référent afin qu’il puisse garder une trace de votre travail. Voyez avec elle/lui pour a forme attendue.

Alone or in pairs projects will be the subject of discussions between students and teachers and will be assiociate to one of the followed units.

The proposed projects by the Biology Department will be available in the BioInformatics PA.

The project ca be carried out according to one of the three following options with the teachers during the starting PA lecture hall: P1 or P1 and P2

- BIO511

Research project: the first option involves a research activity in laboratory. In most projects of this option, a part of data production will be followed by an analysis and modeling part.

It is a first introduction and a personal initial contact with the research world.

- Bibliographic project: This option involves developing a bibliographic in-depth research on a specific subject related with one of the year 3 course.

The purpose is to be capable of presenting this topics in a concise, understandable and instructive way in the form of a course presentation with a written document.

- Project development: This option involves developing a funding request for a research project. The purpose will be to define a scientific project innovative and ambitious on one of the topics proposed in year 3, to write and present it orally.

For all this options, exchanges between teachers in the department and between departments are highly encouraged. All these topics can also be developed in engineering perspective, incuding the developement of methods, tools, software, databases and genetically modified organisms.

The purpose of the year 3 project is to start a personal project on a biology research topic by combining reflection, bibliographic analysis and/or experiments and data analases. The project is to be realized alone or in pairs (possibly more but a clear division of tasks will be required). It will be attached to one of the year 3 teachers that you have chosen so you can discuss your progress and interogations regurarly with your teachers. In order that your projects are succesful, a real engagement is required, both in terms of working time you will devote to it in the first weeks and in terms of openness and maturity you must demonstrate, to collect sources of information from your teachers but also from teachers in other departments or regional researchers. You will learn the most by keeping the project alive.

Schedule:

A list of projects and subjects will be presented at the lecture hall 0 in September.

At the end of the day, each student must have defined a project, a subject and/or chosen a referent teacher. The projects and subjects presented remain open and are intended to give you a starting point and to show you the different fields of expertise of the biology department's teachers. Feel free to develop these projects or to discuss with the teachers to bring out new ones that are important to you, our only goal is to make sure that these projects are coherent and realizable, so you can develop your full potential. You can also choose an article analysis with a unit of P1, especially BIO571.

Evaluation modality:

• September to end of February: project development, a half-day each week with your tutor.
• Mid-December: intermediate defense organized at the end of the first period.
• Mid-March/end of March: redaction of a short report and oral defense.

A 10 minutes oral presentation (15 minutes for a duo) will be followed by a 15 minutes discussion with coordinators and project tutors. We do not ask for a written report but we encourage you to deliver a report to your renferent so they can keep a record of your work. Check with them for the expected form.
