Main outcomes and course content:

The research project will allow students to develop their research abilities and skills in a real case study in a laboratory. The objective is to acquire knowledge and expertise by focusing on a topic at the core of current research. We consider that this laboratory work within a research team will provide students with the appropriate behaviours, attitudes, and methods to become more autonomous and efficient in an R&D context. PhD track students are asked to discuss their research topic with their mentor beforehand.

At the end of the project, for the evaluation, the students will present a report in the form of a scientific article (introduction, objectives, experimental, results and discussion conclusion).

Main outcomes and course content:

During this course, the students will work on the design of a research tool or a small demonstrator, with the objective to make it fully operational within a few weeks (10 sessions). They will work in teams and will make use of modern tools such as 3D-printing, laser-cutting, Arduino programing … to create their object. Throughout this course, they will work on their capability to integrate the different aspects of object design: functionality, ergonomics, specifications, limits, ….

The evaluation will consist of a report, a presentation and demonstration of the object operation.
