This seminar offers an introduction to understanding socio-technological innovation questions as part of multicultural relations within globalized business management. The course is proposed to X (Year 3), master's students from the Ecole Polytechnique, including master of Chemistry department, and where appropriate, HEC students (Year 2).

The question of design and innovation transfer from an organization to another, and management techniques from a country to another will be studied in more detail. Can also be discussed the question of cooperation between two business' teams and different countries around common projects, and the difficulties to organize the globalization of business models thinked in an unique place and institutional environment. The course benefits from research works carried out on these questions as well as advances on technological innovation.

Afterward, in relation with a large industrial group, every year a group of 3 students X-HEC-Indian Institute of management d’Ahmedabad (IIMA, Gujarat, Inde) will be able to conduct a full-time research work, from April to July, mainly abroad (1 month in France and 3 months in India) on questions soci-technical innovation, technology transfer and multicultural management. This research is carried out with the support of a professor from a local institution: the IIM d’Ahmedabad (Gujarat, Inde). This work serves as a Year 3 research internship for the X (polytechnician engineer and M1 Master (programs: Master of Data Science for Business, IETE) students). Students from other master's programs can participate, with the agreement (). For students of HEC, it can be validated as research dissertation of master or gap year (or internship dissertation). It is a research work on highly strategic topicsin terms of innovation in which a large industrial group give access to all of its information. After a selective process (November-December), the selected groups will receive an additional training and preparation for the trip (methodology, training on the cultural zone, analysis of the chosen subject). For the X, this additional training can be validated as a HSS in-depth course (EA) for the second semester.

 

This modul is not intented to give only theorical course, but aims the discovery and analysis of multicultural professional situations leading to a work based on a long immersion in the field for several months through an internship.

 

Evaluation modalities: it will on an oral presentation (in French or English) of a mini case study on multicultural relations within a training, research or associative institution. If appropriate, a Student Reading Record might be asked (written in French or English).
