Target
Intermediate level 1 courses in periods 2 are aimed at students who have acquired some basic grammar and vocabulary during their previous schooling (high school, preparatory classes, foreign universities), but who still have major difficulties with expression and comprehension.
Objectives
The main aim of courses in period 2 is to (re)give students a taste for language and expression, particularly oral expression.
Intermediate 1 courses will first reactivate and reinforce students' basic knowledge, based on the skills they have acquired in the past. Students will be asked to produce narratives and talk about events that took place in the past, give descriptions, lead discussions and give their opinions. They will practice understanding the main lines of audio and video recordings with several speakers, and identify the key words in a dialogue to reconstruct the main ideas. They will be able to read non-specialized press and simple literary texts and answer targeted questions. In terms of written expression skills, this level requires the drafting of pragmatic texts such as letters, e-mails, invitations, CVs and cover letters, as well as essays. Students will learn to better express their opinions on specific topics covered in class.
