This course aims to raise students' awareness of public innovation issues. Comprising 8 sessions, it will enable them to consider how current "grand challenges" (climate, health, education, social justice, sovereignty) necessitate new approaches for public and collective action. After providing an overview of initiatives and concepts in this field (session 1), the course will explore new ways of designing and organizing public innovation, such as public innovation laboratories or the design practices of public policies (sessions 2 and 3). It will also cover learning and associated experimentation methods, such as controlled trials or "living labs" approaches (sessions 4 and 5), as well as governance issues arising from these transformations, particularly those linked with digital technology, AI, and algorithms (sessions 6 and 7). A closing session will invite participants to consider more political and social topics resulting from public innovation, such as the concepts of a State platform, experimental government, or deliberative democracy (session 8).
