In this course, we will explore the fundamentals of molecular chemistry by reviewing basic concepts in organic and inorganic chemistry.

We will begin with the principles of organic chemistry, and describe in particular the reactivity of carbonyl and aromatic derivatives. Oxydation and reduction in organic chemistry will be discuss and the main protection strategies for usual fonctional groups discussed.

We will also cover chemical bonding and the periodic properties of inorganic elements. We will then study inorganic compounds and their reactivity, as well as fundamental chemical reactions.

In addition to these basic topics, we will study group theory and its application to molecular chemistry, as well as electronic spectra and luminescence. We will see how group theory allows us to understand the symmetry of molecules and predict their properties, and how electronic spectra and luminescence can be used to study the electronic properties of molecules.

This course is designed to provide students with a solid understanding of key concepts in molecular chemistry, as well as practical skills in problem solving and data analysis.
