This course provides students with the keys to reading and analyzing French heritage, as well as understanding the functions and symbols used in architecture, both past and present. We will also cover notions of art history by analyzing the functions of the habitat, with the aim of questioning our current conceptions of architecture. We will focus on the different types of architecture of Paris and then move on to the great sites that are the jewels of French culture, and to the major projects that are at the heart of contemporary debates.

This course is intended to develop the language skills of reading, listening, writing and speaking, as well as intercultural competence. It will be based on numerous group assignments and will encourage active student participation.

Assessment will be a collective oral presentation, a document analysis in writting production and a final assessment that will mobilize knowledge, skills and semerster's contribution.
