The aim of this course is to explore tensions existing between society and business values through different approach: the intellectual property (problem of protecting fashion designs and patents on medicines), the innovation (invention of restaurant, feminine), the factory as a point of tension for the society (from the first factories in the 19th century to the chinese factories), the social responsability of the company (how the company has become a person and a citizen), the democratic issue (company place in the democratic society and the democracy in the company), the stadardization (its role in our societies and conflicts), the business and shareholder (Does business work for the shareholder or its stakeholders?).

The course presents theorical notions (responsible companies, organisational hypocrisy, reputational field, moral entrepreneurs, agency theory, stakeholders) based on cases from history and contemporary period.
