Internship of the 'Energies of the 21th century' PA:

The objective of the internship is to introduce students to research in the energy sector as it is practised in French or foreign laboratories of physics, energy, mechanics, or whithin national or international entreprises.

To get the most out of these internships, students can work in pairs, monomials are also accepted. The responsibles publish a catalog of internship opportunities and are at your disposal to give you all the details on each of the subjects envisaged and to adapt them to your preferences. They will also give you advise on subjects of internships that you can find on your own.

Considering the maturing time, it is important to choose your subject and to discuss it with your future internship director in advance. You must think about the chosen topic before the beginning of the internship.

For your information, here are some activity fields in which internships were done in the earlier years:

  • fission reactors
  • thermonuclear fusion
  • wastes
  • nuclear of generation 4
  • photovoltaics
  • hydropower or wind power
  • renewable energy
  • CO2 emission and measuring
  • energy economy
  • thermal solar
  • energy storage
  • research and development on hydrogen
  • perspectives of electrical cars
  • flows in energy systems
  • resisting materials with high temperature
  • vibrations of offshore operating systems
  • mechanical dimensioning of new systems of energy production

This is a wide range of subjects covered, even in each field. Subjects are theorical or experimental. They are often carried out in academic research laboratories or national laboratories in France or abroad. A significative number of internships take place in entreprises, but all have an important sector in research and development in the enfergy field.

We emphasis on the scientific nature of the internship. It cannot be reduced to software comparison studies, techno-economic compilations or development of independent small models not based on an overall scientific approach.

The option is animated by four professors that you can contact and on the following topics:

  • Frank Carré : énergie nucléaire, énergies durables, nouvelles technologies
  • Patrick Le Tallec : mécanique et matériaux pour l'énergie
  • Pere Roca : énergie photovoltaïque
  • Arnd Specka : énergies fossiles, énergies alternatives, stockages, transports, émissions de CO2.
