This in-depth course complete the Fluid Mechanics courses (general fluid mechanics, compressible aerodynamics). Through the realization of research project in laboratory in pairs, the aim of the course is to discover phenomena, concepts and methods of aerodynamics on applied and fundamental subjects, here are some examples: flapping flight, stall control, marginal vortex dynamics, cavity aeroacoustics, under/over extended jet dynamics, shockwave/boundary layer interaction in transonic conditions. The modul begins with an introductory session on aerodynamics and its applications in aeronautics. As the projects progress, students are then trained to the main theorical and practical notions of aerodynamics. Data treatment tools are provided in order to help the exploitation of the obtained data. The work is based on scientific articles provided to the students at the start of the project, which are presented at a mid-term presentation. Experimental projects are realized in the TREX wind tunnels. Digital projects implement professional simulating codes. A visit to ONERA Meudon's wind tunnels is organized to discover large-scale facilities, advanced metrological resources and current research.
