3-Year internships in philosophy are offered by the HSS Department and occur within its laboratory: the LinX, managed by Frédéric Brechenmacher. Students will generally be supervised by Michaël Fœssel.

An internship of this nature and in this discipline involves writing a forties-page essay on a given topic and on the participation and the presence of some laboratory activities (seminaries, study day, conferences, etc.). Of course, partnership with other laboratories in France or abroad are possible. Essentially, it aims to introduce the student to a research work in the philosophy field.

For example, a 3-year student did an internship at LinX in 2015 on the topic: "The mathematics status in The Social Contract by Rousseau". It gave him the opportunity to develop the thinking of a classic author while his scientific knowledge. Additionally to his essay, he to several activities of LinX and to study day dedicated to Rousseau's thought organized in Paris. To complete this initiation to research work in human science, he went to the in Berlin during one week, to participate in some of its activities (seminaries, study day).

There is a relatively wide range of themes: general philosophy, morale and political philosophy, link between science and philosophy. In any case, choosing a dissertation topic will be discussed with the internship supervisor, as the bibliography and the best place to welcome the student. We will also insist on learning about laboratory work (in LinX or another one) to show how research activity is organized in a discipline such as philosophy.
