On one hand, it consists of an introduciton to the main quantitative methods -census, surveys, assessments, experiments, data mining, introduction based on their history. This methods are from debates that aare often forgotten, but which have formed their presuppositions, the results they can provide and their various, often political uses. The knowledges provided by the quantitative methods are not only in their results, but also in the analysis of conditions of use.

On the other hand, it is based on a corpus of texts which students will be expected to present with a critical feedback on each method, as well as a typical case study. Finally, this course will enable students familiarize themselves with both methodological principles to the basis for major public statistics surveys, administrative data use, quota surveys conducted by polling organizations or more recent advances connected to digital footprints uses (data mining) by "pitch in", that is by processing a corpus of data under the supervision of a professor.
