It is often said that "an image is worth a thousand words". From cave paintings to dank memes, humans have always used images to communicate.

This course looks at the history, present and possible future of visual communication, in all its shapes and forms. It looks at graphic design, illustration, comic book art, semiotics, linguistics, anthropology and more to try to understand how best to communicate visually, both within and between cultures.

The aim of this course is to provide students with an interdisciplinary foundation in visual communication, and develop the tools needed for analysing visual communication.

Students will learn about theory and process, as well as being able to engage in practice.
