Ce module offre la possibilité de rédiger un mémoire de recherche pour valider le troisième semestre, à la place de suivre un cours en présentiel.
L’élève est accepté(e) dans le programme à la suite d’un entretien avec la coordinatrice qui étudiera avec lui ou elle le sujet du mémoire. Des rencontres régulières au cours du semestre avec l’enseignant responsable permettront de s’assurer de la progression du travail.
Le mémoire est évalué sous deux formes : le texte écrit (d’une vingtaine de pages, avec bibliographie et notes) et une soutenance orale de 30 minutes devant son enseignant responsable ainsi qu’un second enseignant de la section d’anglais. Les sujets devront impérativement avoir un rapport avec la culture anglophone (littérature, musique, arts, société, média, écriture) et être choisis avec l'enseignant responsable. Le mémoire devra être remis avant les vacances de Noël, la soutenance devant être prévue fin janvier au plus tard.
Etant donné la nécessité de travailler en autonomie et de rédiger un texte assez long en anglais, ce module est réservé aux élèves bilinques et/ou à ceux qui suivent un cursus scientifique principalement enseigné en anglais et qui ont un très bon niveau en anglais.
This module offers the opportunity to write a research dissertation to validate the third semester, instead of taking a classroom course.
Please note: the subject of the paper is to be drawn from the Humanities! This is a chance to take a break from the hard sciences, and plunge into literature or film, dance or history... from music to sculpture to architecture there is a wide world to examine and express your thoughts on!
The student will be accepted into the program following an interview with the coordinator, who will examine the dissertation project with him/her. Regular meetings during the semester with the supervising teacher will ensure the progress of the work.
The dissertation is evaluated in two forms: the written text (about twenty pages, with bibliography and notes) and a 30-minute oral presentation in front of its supervising teacher and a second teacher from the English Section. The subjects must, imperatively, have a relationship with the English culture (literature, music, arts, society, media, writing) and be chosen with the supervising teacher. The thesis must be submitted before the Christmas holidays, the defense to be scheduled by the end of January at the latest.
Given the need to work independently and to write a long enough text in English, this module is reserved for bilingual students and / or those who follow a scientific course mainly taught in English and who have a very good high in English.
