Cette option est ouverte à tous les élèves inscrits dans le cycle polytechnicien. Elle est fortement recommandée aux élèves se destinant aux corps, à la préparation de concours administratifs (ENA, Quai d’Orsay…) ou à une 4A à Sciences Po. Elle s’adresse également à tous les élèves souhaitant avoir une expérience de stage dans la haute-fonction publique au service de l’intérêt général.
Elle propose un travail de recherche portant sur des problèmes d’actualité de nature scientifique et technique, administrative et politique, institutionnelle, sociale, ou financière qui se posent dans l’exercice de missions de service public. Ce travail s’effectue dans le cadre d’un stage effectué dans un secteur de l’Etat ou des affaires publiques.
Le choix de cette option permet une acculturation au fonctionnement du service public et parapublic, à son état d’esprit, à sa modernité, et laisse entrevoir la diversité des carrières offertes par ce secteur.
L’institution dans laquelle s’effectue le stage peut être proposée par un élève, ou choisi parmi un catalogue de stages du département HSS, dans l’administration (cabinet du préfet des Terres Australes et Antarctiques Françaises, Ministère des Affaires Etrangères, Ministère de la transition écologique, Ministère de la Culture…), dans les agences de l’Etat (Agence de régulation de l’énergie, ARCEP…), dans une institution publique (Inspection des finances...), voire dans le secteur du conseil au service public (Cabinet de conseil Jacques Attali).

This option is open to every student registered in the Polytechnician program. It is highly recommandend to those intending to enter the civil service or prepare for administrative competitions (ENA, Quai d’Orsay…), or to a 4th year in Sciences Po. It is also designed to every student who wish gaining an intership experience in the high public service to serve the general interests.
It offers a research works based on live issue of scientific and technical, administrative and political, institutional, social or financial nature, that are raised within the exercise of the public task. This work is carried out as part of an intership in State or public service sector.
Choosing this option enables you to gain an understanding of how public and parapublic service work, to its mind spririt, modernity, and gives a glimpse the variety of job opportunities in this sector.
The institution in which the internship takes place can be proposed by a student, or chosen among a internship catalogue of the HSS Department, in administration (cabinet of the prefect of the French Southern and Antarctic Lands, Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Ecological Transition, Ministry of Culture...), in State agencies (French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE), ARCEP…), in public institutions (General Inspectorate of Finance...), or even in the council of public service sector (Jacques Attali's Council cabinet).
